In August of 2018, Anna received a lifesaving heart-lung transplant at Stanford Medical Center, far from her Midwest home. These pages outline her experience of anticipation and growth in the months prior to her procedure. Examining themes of grief, complex terminality, and overwhelming hope, this is a commentary on the spaces created within us in the process of survival, and the beauty that comes forth through the reconciliation of all that is fleeting and finite.
